The International Hall of the Guangzhou Baiyun International Conference Center is a state-of-the-art conference complex situated in Baiyun District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China, encompassing a total construction area of approximately 137,000 square meters. The auditorium seamlessly integrates high-end conferences, exhibitions, and banquets. Its largest column-free conference hall has the capacity to accommodate up to 6,000 attendees for various events, thereby supporting large-scale government meetings, business conferences, and international activities.
Since its inauguration in 2023, it has hosted significant political and business gatherings as well as foreign affairs events such as the High-Quality Development Conference of Guangdong Province, the Investment China Annual Conference, and the China-Gulf Cooperation Council Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum. This venue has emerged as a pivotal platform for Guangzhou’s ambition to establish itself as an “International Convention and Exhibition Capital.” During this National Games event period, the Guangzhou Baiyun International Conference Center undertook a crucial role.
Acoustic Engineering Design Scheme and Effects
To create an acoustic environment characterized by “clear hearing and high-quality sound effects,” the project team transcended traditional methodologies in selecting acoustic materials by innovatively employing CYATCO Acoustics’ 15 mm-thick lightweight sand sound-absorbing panels. This approach achieved dual breakthroughs in both functionality and cost-effectiveness.
In this acoustic engineering initiative, CYATCO Acoustics provided comprehensive services, including labor and materials supply. The scope of construction encompassed three sections with a total area exceeding 10,000 square meters. The selection and application of these acoustic panels were meticulously designed to meet stringent acoustic standards required for large international conference centers; they ensure clarity of speech while effectively controlling reverberation time—thereby delivering superior acoustic support for various significant events.
Introduction to Innovative Acoustic Panels
The 15 mm-thick lightweight Seamless Sandstone Acoustic Panel represents a cutting-edge acoustic material that utilizes natural sand grains as its primary component. This product is free from formaldehyde emissions and complies with international green building standards. With a thickness of 15mm, it boasts a sound absorption coefficient for medium and high frequencies (500Hz-2000Hz) ranging from 0.65 to 0.95 (for detailed information, please refer to the accompanying report), effectively reducing reverberation time to meet design specifications.
The surface of the lightweight sand sound-absorbing board can be customized in terms of texture and color, allowing for seamless integration with the Lingnan new Chinese design aesthetic prevalent in the International Conference Hall while addressing both acoustic functionality and aesthetic considerations.
This innovative sound-absorbing board exhibits exceptional impact resistance and moisture-proof characteristics, making it well-suited for Guangzhou’s high-temperature and high-humidity climate conditions. It ensures durability by preventing deformation or detachment during prolonged use.

During actual usage, both conference organizers and participants expressed their satisfaction with the audio quality, affirming that it meets the standards expected of premier international conference venues. As an ICCA member venue, its acoustic design serves as a replicable benchmark case for conference facilities throughout South China, thereby contributing significantly to Guangzhou’s ambition of establishing itself as an “International Convention and Exhibition Capital.”
