As a multifunctional large-scale venue, gymnasium acoustics must balance the needs of sports commentary, live performances, and intelligibility for public speeches.

If the gymnasium does not have a professional sound quality design, the following problems may occur later, seriously affecting the user experience and functionality:
1. Echo and reverberation time are too long: the audience may hear multiple overlapping echoes, resulting in communication difficulties.
2. Uneven sound field distribution (sound focusing): the sound in some seating areas is too loud, while in others it is unclear;
3. Noise interference: external or internal noise interferes with the game or performance, distracts the audience, and even covers up key sound information;
4. Insufficient language clarity: long reverberation leads to decreased voice clarity, and game commentary and emergency broadcasts are unclear;
5. Poor music and performance effects: low frequency is missing/high frequency is harsh, the performance effect of concerts and other performances is greatly reduced, and the audience experience is reduced.
Professional sound quality design is the basic guarantee for the functionality, safety, and commercial value of the gymnasium.
- Ensure that the sound pressure level of distant audience seats (such as the top tier) is ≥90dB (A-weighted) to meet the needs of sports commentary and emergency broadcasting.
- Retain 15-20dB of dynamic margin to adapt to high sound pressure level scenes such as rock concerts.
- The clarity index (STI) of the mid-high frequency (500Hz-4kHz) is ≥0.5 to ensure the intelligibility of the commentary.
- The low frequency (63Hz-250Hz) is moderately enhanced to enhance the fullness and shock of the music performance.
- The reverberation time of the mid-frequency (500Hz) is controlled at 1.2-1.8 seconds to avoid being too long to cause tailing or too short to appear dry.
- The difference in sound pressure level in each area of the audience seat is ≤±5dB, eliminating the "acoustic shadow zone" or local over-loudness.
- Avoid echo, flutter echo, sound focusing, and low-frequency hum through proper shape design and sound absorption treatment optimization.
